about

"Tierra de andanzas" (2013) (Land of adventures) is the third album of An Danzza. We return to the format of independent songs. This is a more intimate and quiet album, you need to listen several times to squeeze the juice. The songs are longer and slower, but full of feeling and fantasy. Macarena Martin continues to sing some traks in this album.

Description of the songs.
1. Cernunnos
Cernunnos is a horned god stag in Celtic mythology. He has a beard and wild hair, scrubby, is the lord and protector of the forest. He walks through the woods with long strides, his powerful footsteps echo in some not too distant mountain. Playing a double flute. aulos, and he will call all the inhabitants of the forest. Small creatures approach the undergrowth and observe curious, the branches of the trees are shaken, the logs do reverence, lean and creak. The deity whispers words in the ancient language of the land, and the faerie beings appear gleaming in the twilight. Start the song, sounds of string instruments represent the ancestral forest wood, and ocarina imitates the song of a bird, then the theme up to some secret place in the forest
2. Dejadme llorar (Let me cry)
It is a song inspired by the ballad "the most beautiful girl" (1580) by Luis de Gongora y Argote. It is about a beautiful woman is relieved at her mother because her lover goes to war and the prospect of living alone. The song is introduced with gemscorno, a wind instrument of the ocarina family that was traditionally made from the horn of the chamois, to give way to the sweet voice of Macarena in a simple melody with a medieval air. Zither accompanies the song with a parsimonious pace, perhaps in that environment where you can recall the image of the album cover, with a detachment of men marching to the war.
3. Patricius
This instrumental piece invites us to travel back in time, to a time and a specific place. I have focused on the figure of St. Patrick, a Christian missionary who is known as the patron saint of Ireland, he was a preacher and religious of Britain, traditionally considered the introducer of Christianity on the island. Musically it is a solemn track, epic, orchestrated, and full of nuances, many instruments are inheriting the melody of his predecessor, leaving room for Latin plainsong. Finally the Irish bagpipe rises brighting to close it.
4. Los confines del Mar (The end of the sea)
We travele to the deep oceans to meet the myth of mermaids. A sailor is on of hypnotic love to call one. His singing her sentence to a chimeric persecution, and not only by the wide sea. Evokes many images, a ship across the sky by the most remote parts of the universe. One fateful storm, and lips that approach. The song has arrangements baroque guitar, accompanied by whistles, of epic moments. And of course, calls of mermaids
5. Rúnatal (runic song of Odin)
The Rúnatal is a section of Hávamál written in Old Norse, in which Odin reveals the secret of the runes. Along the theme you can listen to two passages from it, as well as various ancient instruments such as horns, Hummel, guimbarda, hurdy-gurdy and percussion made with bloody patches and bones. It is a direct song with a rhythm that makes shake the very pillars of the halls of Valhalla.
6. La galana y la mar
A traditional Sephardic song originally sung in Ladino language. This music is born of Spanish Jews installed in Castile and Aragón who adapt Castilian folksongs until their expulsion in the time of Ferdinand and Isabella, with a fusion of Arabic music and Christian, but like all traditional song, there are many different versions, with different letters, but in all essence of this unforgettable melody it is preserved. Here the style of An Danzza performed by Macarena MArtín accompanied by various medieval instruments such as the vihuela, viola da gamba, tambourine, flute and harp of early Renaissance etc.
7. Miserere Mountain
An instrumental piece inspired initially by the legend of Becquer, the same name, was the first song I composed for the album, and the track has changed most in the end, before finally closing it, there was a powerful environmental outro, but finally I decided that I fit better as intro for the next song, much darker. both songs are linked so. After it was developed in a way, merging with Celtic music, predominantly Irish instruments, but evoking the image of a lonely monastery in ruins amid great scenery seen from above, where the sound of the pipe uilleann becomes increasingly most epic
8. bona xente
The myth (or reality) of the Holy Company has other names, Güestia, Güéspeda, Estadea, Hoste, Genti de Muerti procession of ghosts... I did not want to center it only in Galicia and Asturias. The song begins with a somber introduction, possibly a sinister secret Misa of souls before the lost souls come to their nocturnal procession to claim souls and announce the death. Suddenly the dogs stop barking. There is silence, interrupted only by an icy wind. There are prayers of real spirits. The song has medieval instruments again but this time convey a more sinister air.
9. Winter is coming
An instrumental inspired by the popular fantasy novel written by American author George RR Martin, A Game of Thrones. A cold wind on the wall, the intense sound of low whistle brings us to accompany the expectant night guard, a lyrical song warns the pain comes later, sounding trumpets, thrones struggle, and a drum announces we will attend a execution.
10. Tierra de andanzas
namesake song album,. Many shades, and an arboreal development, instruments born at the root, come together in the trunk, open at the top, the leaves sway and fall. An instrumental piece to dream, which highlights the magical sound of the dulcimer, and merges the Celtic music, oriental and medieval.
11. La eterna primavera (Eternal Spring) New version with Macarena
This musical adaptation of the splendid poetry of Rosalia de Castro already appeared on our first album "Last Autumn Tears", sung beautifully by Silvia Luchetti. Currently Macarena Martin has become an essential part of An Danzza and could not miss her wonderful voice in one of our main songs. The autoversión has a more intimate feel, with simple but solemn arrangements.
12. Arcadia
Arcadia is an imaginary country, created and described by many poets and artists, especially the Renaissance and Romanticism. Here happiness reigns, simplicity and peace in an idyllic environment inhabited by a population of shepherds living in communion with nature. This track is specifically inspired by Licaón , a king of Arcadia that Zeus turned into a wolf. Musically is another Celtic track, with orchestral arrangements, trumpet soloist and epic finale
13. El corro de las Hadas (The ring of the Fairies)
This piece is shaped like a trisquel. The fairies make a circle around the trsiquel, and its choreography make twists and twisted triangular figures with Piper in the center. The trisquel represents the balance between body, mind and spirit. Among the Druids symbolizes learning, and Trinity Past, Present and Future. For others there are three elements, earth, air and water. The structure of the tune, is divided into trisqueles, ternary compasses, forming three jigs. The main tune in the middle is a slip jig, which are precisely three groups of three beats each. The track ranked 13th, a very appropriate and faerie number. If you remain vigilant, you can hear a tiny flutter. Trisquel dance will be over tonight.
Bonus tracks
we bring you a popular spanish children's song "Tres Hojitas madre" with Renaissance arrangements. and a final beautiful instrumental track.
